ENGLISH LANGUAGE (ELICOS)

For those who’s first language is not English

ELICOS stands for English Language Intensive Courses for Overseas Students and Australia is a very popular country to study English as it is Australia’s national language and there are many English language institutions and programs available for international students to select from. The ELICOS program was designed for students who need formal English language training before starting  studies in Australia. There are other English language programs besides ELICOS that a student can do, but the Australian government has an official ELICOS student visa especially for students who do one of these courses.

The ELICOS programs are open to everyone, including those who are visiting Australia on a tourist or visitor visa and people who do not want to do any further study after their English classes are over. There are some restrictions that may apply in these cases.

Australia has high quality university and vocational education systems with students often coming to Australia with plans for a full study program. English language can be a solid bridge into other courses. For example, you could choose to do a general English course or specialise by doing courses in English for Business and much more. There is also the opportunity to participate in one of the internationally recognised English language examinations such as IELTS or TOEFL. If you are unsure of your study plans, your English college will help you with your future study plans once your English course is complete.
